o Replace the air filter every 30-60 days because dirty air filters make it harder for your heat or ac to circulate air. If your heating or air conditioning system is having to work harder, it can increase your utility bill.
o EPM will provide you with an air filter, just make sure to look at the size of your current filter and stop by the office any time during business hours to pick one up!
o Using energy efficient light bulbs can help cut the cost of your utility bill because they use less energy than normal bulbs. Compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) may cost a little more than the normal light bulb but they last longer and use less electricity!
o Remember to turn off your lights and ceiling fan when you leave the room!
o When doing laundry, wash your clothes in large loads.
o Taking a quick shower can use less water than taking a bath, which can help lower that water bill!
o During the winter months, try utilizing the suns warmth and leave your blinds open and during the summer months try keeping the blinds closed to keep the suns warmth from heating up your apartment.
o Make sure you don’t have any furniture blocking any vents.
o Try turning your water off when brushing your teeth to save water!
